Decalogue of ethics

Making mine what was said in the Hippocratic Oath, in the oath given when they gave me the Diploma of Medic and within the conceptual framework of the moral norms in force and those imposed by the laws of my country, I DECLARE SOLEMNELY to comply with each of the principles of the Declaration of Geneva (*) that the Certification Board of Medical Professionals has made its own and whose content I declare to know and make mine.

I PROMISE SOLEMNELY:

  1. To consecrate my life to the service of humanity;
  2. Grant my teachers the respect, gratitude and consideration they deserve;
  3. Exercise my profession with dignity and conscience;
  4. Ensure solicitously and foremost for the health of my patient;
  5. Save and respect the secrets entrusted to me even after a patient has died;
  6. To maintain the honor and the noble traditions of the medical profession intact by all the concepts and means within my reach;
  7. Consider my colleagues as brothers;
  8. Ignoring political and religious creeds, nationalities, races and social ranks, avoiding that they interpose between my professional duties and my patient;
  9. To watch with the maximum respect for human life from its beginning, even under threat, and not to use my knowledge to contravene human laws;
  10. Solemnly and freely, under my word of honor, I promise to fulfill the aforesaid.
